The System Shock remake finally hits consoles on May 21


The wait is almost over. Nightdive Studios for its console version System shock to do again. It will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, .

The developer, along with publisher Prime Matter, has released a new trailer for the console release, showcasing a stunning graphical update of the 1994 first-person shooter/RPG. The combat has also received a significant improvement, as the mechanics of the genre were not so perfect when the game was first released 30 years ago.

The PC version of the remake with , but this is no simple re-release. Console gamers are getting some exclusive features to sweeten the pot. It will boast 4K visuals at 60 FPS on PS5 and Xbox Series X. There’s also a new ending that “enhances the final confrontation” with series antagonist Shodan. The controls have been redesigned to better fit console gamepads, and there’s a new female hacker protagonist.

Here’s a little something for collectors. The PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are getting a physical release, though it’s a digital-only affair for PS4 and Xbox One players. There is no pricing information yet, but the game is priced at $40 on PC.

This remake of the iconic shooter is long overdue. First announced as part of a successful Kickstarter campaign. It’s Nightdive Studios of System Shock 2.
