Until Dawn and The Quarry developer Supermassive is reportedly laying off around 90 workers


Another prominent game studio is laying off a significant portion of its workforce. Supermassive Games, creator of interactive horror games and cuts about 90 jobs . That’s about a third of the studio’s 300-plus employees.

Superarray confirmed that the studio will be reorganized. “As a result, we are entering a period of consultation that we expect will result in the loss of some colleagues,” he said. “This is not a decision taken lightly, and a lot of effort has gone into preventing this outcome.”

Supermassive notes that it’s not immune to the “significant challenges” facing the gaming industry. More than 6,000 workers lost their jobs in the industry and we’re not even into March yet.

Meanwhile, there is an indie studio called Die Gute Fabrik amid funding difficulties. The developer Chronicles of Saltsea and will use the remaining funds to give workers a month of paid time off to “catch their breath” while they look for new jobs. The studio is still looking for backers to help resume production and hopes to bring back current team members in the future. However, he notes that “the publishing and investment scene is so difficult right now for companies and projects of our scale that it’s become extremely difficult to secure funding for our next project without a gap in revenue.”
