NVIDIA’s RTX 500 and 1000 Ada GPUs bring more AI smarts to thin and light workstations

While they may not offer as much TOPS AI performance as current high-end mobile GPUs, they can be a viable option for on-the-go AI processing for researchers, content creators, and video editors. It’s worth noting that they’re more workstation GPUs than gaming ones.

GPUs based on the Ada Lovelace architecture offer up to twice the ray tracing performance of previous generation GPUs (they use third generation ray tracing cores). Fourth-generation Tensor cores deliver up to twice the throughput of previous GPUs, according to NVIDIA. The company says it helps “accelerate deep learning training, inference, and AI-powered creative workloads.”

The RTX 500 has 4GB and the RTX 1000 has 6GB of dedicated memory. NVIDIA says they deliver AI performance of up to 154 and 193 TOPS, respectively. Compared to a CPU-only AI configuration, the RTX 500 will deliver up to three times faster AI-powered photo editing, up to 10x the graphics performance for 3D rendering, and up to 14x the generative AI performance for various models. .
