ReFantazio, a fantasy RPG from the Persona 5 team, comes out in October


Atlus first teased It says it’s working on a new fantasy RPG for mid-2023 — which it also says will be available sometime this year. Now the developer has revealed that the game, Metaphor: ReFantazio, will be released on October 11 at a special live event. The game is directed by Katsura Hashino as well Personality 3, 4 and 5, also featured a 30-minute hands-on game that gave a fairly lengthy look at the story and combat mechanics. Similar to Persona games, Metaphor: ReFantazio It features a turn-based combat system with “a mix of real-time action,” according to Atlus.

Also, like the Persona games, you’ll need to manage your time so you can build bonds with allies and increase your “virtues” outside of dungeon crawling. Metaphor: ReFantazio is set in the fictional United Kingdom of Evronia, which has fallen into chaos after the assassination of its king. In the midst of a royal tournament for the throne, the protagonist and his partner, the fairy Galika, embark on a journey to find a cursed prince thought to be dead, making new allies along the way.

Physical copies of the game are both standard and limited Collector’s editions now available for pre-order, but if you want to get the digital version, you’ll have to wait a bit. After launch, the game will be available on various consoles, namely Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as Windows and Steam on PC.
