Aside from who would win in a battle between Elon Musk and the ghost of Steve Jobs, the question I get asked the most is how to find the best smartphone on a budget.

As an insufferable early adopter/power user, I’m used to spending over $1000 on my daily addiction, but I don’t need to buy a great capable phone in 2024. This time, our top picks are between $100 and $300. , we really mean it . (Actually, our options are cut off my recommendation Pixel 7A at over $400.)

Google has announced the date of this year’s I/O conference in a really annoying way. He asked people to complete a grueling logic puzzle. After enough people completed all 15 levels and repeatedly reached a marble destination, they received the date.

The third time is the charm as SpaceX attempts another test of its Starship rocket. The starship launched at 9:25 a.m. ET Thursday. Shortly after launch, it completed hot-stage separation from the Super Heavy Booster and successfully ignited the Starship second-stage Raptor engines. Although SpaceX has stated that both the booster and Starship will return to Earth at “terminal velocity,” making their recovery impossible, it appears that the Starship did not break up and bounce upon re-entry (according to preliminary data).
