PS5 system update that makes your controller sound better is rolling out today


Sony does it rolls new PlayStation 5 a system update that allows your controller to sound better, your screen sharing to be more effective, and your power meter to be adjusted. System Update 9.00 entered beta over a month ago and is available in the public firmware released to PS5 owners on Wednesday.

PS5 system software version 24.02-09.00.00 DualSense and DualSense Edge increase controller volume. Controller speakers are now louder for clearer speakers when streaming in-game sounds and voice chat. The controller’s microphone has also been improved. Sony says a new “AI machine learning model” suppresses background noise from keystrokes and game audio, leading to an improved voice chat experience.”

The update also adds brightness adjustments for the PS5 power indicator. You can change its levels by going to Settings > System > Alarm & Light > Brightness. You can choose from three settings: dim, medium, and bright (default).

Adds Screen Share indicators and emoji reactions, allowing you to stream your gameplay directly from the console. Your live viewers can now use the pointer to show you locations on the screen. They can also send emoji reactions from the Share Screen highlighting their gaming triumphs and tragedies. The features are on by default, but hosts can turn them off from the Screen Sharing settings.

The 9.00 update also adds Unicode 15.1 emojis to messages. Less specifically detailed changes include performance and stability improvements to system software, DualSense gamepads, PlayStation VR2 headsets and controllers, and the Access controller.

If you do not require an automatic update, you can initiate the software download by going to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update & Settings and selecting “Update System Software” under “Update Available”.
