Apple expands access to web-based diagnostics tool. The software (officially called “Apple Diagnostics for Self-Service Repair”) is currently available in 32 European countries, including the UK, Germany, France and the Netherlands. The means by which they join the United States came in December.
As Apple describes, the program “gives users the same ability as Apple Authorized Service Providers and Independent Repair Providers to test products for optimal parts functionality and performance.” Currently supports iPhone, Macintosh and Studio Screen.
The tool can scan the display, camera, Face ID, software integration, and audio output for issues and tell you which parts may need repair. This is the part Apple’s latest push to be kinder to self-service, presumably try to break the rules.
The only point is that a second Apple device is required for diagnostics. Both products must run iOS 17 or later or macOS Sonoma 14.1 or later. Beta software is unavailable. (Sorry, iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia early adopters.)
After starting the process this site the device tested from the second device will go into Diagnostic mode and you can follow the instructions from there.
