Google is expected to launch the new Pixel 8a the phone is in place I/O conference next month, but if you’re willing to buy last year’s model, a new sale has dropped Pixel 7a down to the lowest price we’ve ever tracked. The phone is now on sale for $349, which is $150 off Google’s list price and $25 off the previous minimum. we have seen in recent months. This discount applies to black, light blue and white and is available at several retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Google’s online store. The Pixel 7a is the best budget option in our guide best android phonesand Engadget’s Sam Rutherford gave it away 90 points In our review last May. When discounted to this extent, it remains a good value. Its cameras are still superior to almost anything else in this price range, and it still provides a largely bloat-free version of Android. Its Tensor G2 can run hot at times, but it’s still quick for everyday tasks. It won’t be updated for that long, though the flagship Pixel 8will be still gets it OS updates until May 2026 and security updates until May 2028.
The mostly plastic design and 6.1-inch OLED display are a step down from more expensive devices, but at this price they should be acceptable. The latter can run at a 90Hz refresh rate, which again isn’t at the level of high-end models, but makes scrolling feel smoother than on many cheap Android phones. Along those lines, although the Pixel 7a’s wireless charging is a relatively slow 7.5W, it’s nice that it supports wireless charging. Battery life is solid but generally not class-leading, although wired charging isn’t the fastest at 18W either.
If you don’t need a new phone right this second, it still makes sense to see if Google has one follows tradition and is releasing a new A-series phone in a few weeks. There was flame of Pixel 8a leaks it’s over the past some month, all of which suggest a device that will more closely match the current Pixel 8. However, it is unclear exactly how much the new phone will cost. If you’re looking to upgrade today and need to stick to a tighter budget, we expect this deal to remain valuable after I/O. It should also be noted that Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro retailing for $549 and $799, respectively, but neither of these are all-time lows.
