Nintendo to announce Switch successor before March 2025

Nintendo will introduce a successor to the Switch “during this fiscal year,” which ends in March 2025, president Shuntaro Furukawa wrote. Type in X. It is slightly different from this reports that the next-gen console will be announced this year, as it could appear as early as 2025.

The company added that it won’t reveal any details about the Switch 2 (or whatever it will be called) at its Nintendo Direct event in June, so we won’t hear anything until at least the second half of 2024.

“In March 2015, it will be more than nine years since we announced the availability of the Nintendo Switch,” wrote Furukawa. “We will be holding a Nintendo Direct this June regarding Nintendo Switch software for the second half of 2024, but please note that there will be no mention of a Nintendo Switch successor during this presentation.”

Nintendo also released its earnings report, which contained both good and bad news. There was a company has already strengthened its Switch sales forecast for the last fiscal year was 15.5 million units, but it surpassed that figure by selling 15.7 million units for the full year ending in March 2024. Although it was down from the previous year (17.97 million units), it helped boost Nintendo’s sales. and operating profit increased by 4.4 and 4.9 percent year-on-year, respectively.

Things won’t be so funny in fiscal 2025, as the company predicts Switch sales will drop to 13.5 million units for the year ending March 2025. This would result in a 19.3 percent and 24.4 percent decrease in net sales and operations. profit respectively.

Nintendo has done a good job of maintaining Switch sales considering the console was released more than seven years ago. This was helped by games, including last year’s top sellers The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario Bros. Miracle.

Now that Nintendo has given time for the new console to go on sale, interest in buying the current Switch will decrease. The company is certainly hoping for several upcoming titles including Paper Mario (May 23) and Luigi’s Mansion 2 (June 27), will help sell juice.
