Microsoft is finally bringing keyboard and mouse support to Xbox Cloud Gaming titles

It took longer than expected, though finally brings some keyboard and mouse (KBM) support titles. it was suggested that the company planned to do so in March 2022, and that the option might be available by that June, but that obviously didn’t happen. Only now is Microsoft getting started Check out KBM features in web browsers (Edge and Chrome) and the Xbox PC app in the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring. The feature should be more widely available soon.

You must be a Game Pass Ultimate subscriber to test KBM support (unless you want to check it out this is absolutely ). You will also need to register . If you’re testing KBM support in a web browser, there’s one more step – you’ll need to enable Preview features in your browser. To do this, click on your profile picture xbox.com/playSelect Settings and then turn on “Preview Features”.

Some supported games may still display controller elements on the screen initially. You may be prompted to press A to start the game. However, as soon as you move the cursor or press a button, the game should switch to the KBM user interface. In browsers, KBM will only work when you’re playing in full screen mode and you’re clicking on the game stream so that it recognizes your mouse input. You can exit KBM by pressing F9 or holding ESC to exit full screen mode.

These are the first Xbox Cloud Gaming titles to gain KBM support Fortnite (browsers only), Ark Survival Evolved, Sea of Thieves, Grounded, Halo Infinite, Atomic Heart, Sniper Elite 5, Deep Rock Galactic, High on Life, Zombie Army 4 Dead War, Gears Tactics, Pentiment, Doom 64 and Age of Empires 2. There is a known issue for Atomic Heart per minute. Microsoft notes that there are some difficulties with switching between the controller and KMB when publishing this game.

This is a welcome update, especially for those who want to play first-person shooters with a KBM setup, but don’t have a PC capable enough to run current games natively. It’s also a good step forward for accessibility. Xbox’s cloud gaming technology is pretty solid, but we hope it can last Fortnite players who can build complex structures in nanoseconds.
