This week, Adobe unveiled an experimental audio AI tool to go along with it Image-based ones in Photoshop. Described by the company as an “early-stage generative AI music creation and editing tool,” Adobe Project Music GenAI Control can create music (and other audio) from text prompts, then fine-tune it in that interface.
Adobe frames Firefly based technology as a creative ally as opposed to generative audio experiences like Google’s MusicLM — goes one step further and skips the hassle of exporting to external programs as output Pro Tools, Logic Pro or GarageBand for editing. “Instead of manually cutting existing music to create intros, outros, and background audio, Project Music GenAI Control can help users create exactly the tracks they need—solving workflow pain points end-to-end,” Adobe said. he wrote in the announcement blog post.
The company suggests starting with text entries like “power rock,” “happy dance” or “sad jazz” as a base. From there, you can enter more instructions to adjust its tempo, structure, and repetition, increase its intensity, increase its length, remix entire sections, or create loops. The company says it can even convert a voice based on a reference ringtone.
Adobe says the music is ultimately safe for commercial use. It also integrates it Content Credentials (“feed tags for generated content”), try Be transparent about the AI-powered nature of your masterpiece.
“One of the exciting things about these new tools is that they’re not just about creating audio, they’re taking it to the level of Photoshop by giving creatives the same deep control over shaping, dirtying and editing their audio. The project is a collaboration with the University of California, San Diego and Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science.
