Microsoft is holding a Surface and Windows AI event on March 21


There is Microsoft announced It said it will host an event on March 21 that will focus on its upcoming generative AI devices and features. The event, titled “The Advancement of a New Era of Copilot,” will begin at 9AM Pacific/12PM ET on that date. Microsoft promises to deliver “the latest in scaling AI into your environment with Copilot, Windows and Surface,” but hasn’t shared any other details about what its announcements might entail.

It looks like they will be Microsoft’s first AI-powered PCs to be powered by either the new Intel Core Ultra or Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processors. Both models have neural processing units (NPUs) that boost AI capabilities, so the upcoming Surfaces will likely be the first to support the new AI features coming to Windows 11.

These new AI features may include real-time live captions and translations, upscaling and frame rate smoothing for games. Microsoft is also working on a feature called AI Explorer that will allow users to search for apps, documents, web pages, images and conversations using natural language. Windows Center AI Explorer may have the ability to understand context and suggest actions based on what’s on the screen, he said. It can also create a history of tasks a user has performed on their computer so they can search for them later.
