Google finally brings Wallet passes to Wear OS watches along with transit directions

Google is finally giving Android smartwatch owners a feature they’ve been wanting for years: Google Wallet links. Among its many announcements at MWC, Google announced today that it’s officially bringing ride tickets, event tickets, gym memberships, loyalty cards, and other tickets that can be stored in Google Wallet to Wear OS. This is one area where Wear OS has long lagged behind the Apple Watch.

While some users have reported seeing the feature roll out over the past month, Google is only now confirming its arrival. Any links you add to Google Wallet will appear with a QR code or barcode on your Wear OS watch with the update, and you can hide the ones you don’t currently need. Google is also adding the ability to get detailed public transit directions on your watch so you don’t have to pull out your phone to figure out where you’re going. You’ll be able to view travel times from your wrist and get turn-by-turn directions to your destination or a guided map view.
