The half-ear style allows for more ambient noise and may be more comfortable depending on the shape of your ear. Like the Amazon device, the Echo Buds are equipped with Alexa, so you can ask the assistant to play music, call someone, set a reminder, or one of many other standard tasks. Plus, you can use the Alexa app to set tap controls to mute your microphones and change your music. Speaking of music, these headphones have 12mm drivers and a crisp overall sound (although the open nature hurts bass quality).
