Rode announced Wireless Microa set of two microphones with a smartphone receiver and charging case for only $149. The idea is to help TikTok and other creators get better quality audio than their smartphone microphone can offer.
The receiver is connected to the bottom of the smartphone via USB-C or lightning port. Meanwhile, microphones (aka transducers) attach to the object via integrated clips or magnetic attachments, then capture what Rode calls “clean” quality sound. Specifically, they offer a 20-20 kHz frequency range and a signal-to-noise ratio of 73 dB with a transmission range of approximately 330 feet.
To use it, simply connect the receiver to your iOS or Android device and it will act as the system microphone. From there, it’s all automatic, as the transmitter microphones are automatically connected to the receiver and audio is captured in the camera software of your choice. Levels are automatically controlled by the company’s GainAssist technology.
The versatile transmitters weigh just 12 grams (0.42 ounces) and are small enough to be discreet when touching your subject. The built-in microphones use a patented design that Rode calls “acoustic chambers.” This allows for clear and intelligible sound while reducing wind noise, although the kit also includes a pair of wind deflectors.
The Wireless Micro also includes a charging case that provides two full charges for up to 18 hours of battery life and provides a safe place to store everything.
There are a few things missing though. Unlike others, you cannot connect an external microphone to the transmitters Wireless microphones or DJI Microphone 2. The smartphone doesn’t have Bluetooth and it doesn’t offer a 3.5mm connection for cameras – which is likely to be available on the phone. rumors DJI Mic Mini. Still, it seems like a great option for creators who mostly use smartphones. this available now For $150 in a two-mic kit with a receiver and charging case.
