Before announcing the new phones during It’s Glowtime on Monday iPhone 16 presentation ceremony in CupertinoApple executives talked about the company’s latest set of smartwatches. Rumors he suggested If the company had borrowed the naming scheme from the 2017 iPhone, we could have gotten the Apple Watch X instead of the Apple Watch Series 10. But that didn’t happen, this is indeed the Apple Watch Series 10. In addition to the flagship wearable, we also saw the announcement of a new finish for the Apple Watch Ultra 2. Unfortunately, after two years of waiting, the Apple Watch SE has not been updated to the third generation. The new Apple Watch 10 opens for pre-orders today and should begin shipping on September 20. Here’s how to pre-order your watch.
The Apple Watch has always come in two sizes; For the last few generations, your options were 41 or 45mm case sizes. With now Apple Watch 10you only get one size—it’s bigger than the Apple Watch Ultra—with a wide-angle OLED display. But now it comes with two metal finishes: aluminum or titanium. And despite the larger screen, it’s 10 percent thinner than its predecessor and lighter overall.
Inside is the new S10 SIP and a new built-in depth gauge like the Ultra for diving and other underwater activities. An accelerometer sensor will now help detect “breathing disorders” to potentially identify sleep apnea.
It will ship with Apple’s latest wearable device watchOS 11which we heard during WWDC is back in June. The app brings with it a number of new health and fitness-focused features that the new wearable will support, including Training Load and the new Vitals app.
We’re big fans of the previous generation Apple Watch series 9 and its Double Tap features. We even named it that way the best smartwatch you can buy. Once we get this new one to test, we’ll let you know if it lives up to the high expectations set by its predecessor.
The new Apple Watch 10 comes in rose gold and silver aluminum and a new polished aluminum jet black with new Titanium finishes. Watches start at $399. Pre-orders opened on the same day as the event. Apple’s flagship and wearable devices should start shipping on September 20.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 y didn’t get an update, but it does have a new black color and a new titanium Milanaise strap.
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 still only comes in one size, 49mm, and now comes in black or titanium. It’s priced at $799 and, like everything announced, will open for pre-orders today, with units going on sale on September 20.
