Apple has reached a possible deal with Mountain View startup Rivos accused Poaching employees and stealing trade secrets in 2022. Seen in the companies files Bloomberg and Reuters, they told the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California that they had entered into an agreement that would “potentially settle the case.” Their deal would allow Apple to conduct a forensic examination of Rivos’ systems as well as its operations.
When the iPhone maker sued Rivos, it said the startup conducted a “coordinated campaign” to hire workers from its chip design division. Apple also accused the defendant of instructing employees to steal presentations and other proprietary information for unpublished iPhone chip designs that cost billions of dollars to develop. Rivos sued against Last year, Apple accused the larger company of limiting the ability of employees to work elsewhere and using anti-competitive measures to hinder the growth of nascent startups.
Court was fired Apple filed a trade secret lawsuit against Rivos in April 2023, although the company was granted permission to file an amended complaint. Now Apple settled With six former employees filing suit against the iPhonemaker along with Rivos last month after they dismissed their claims against each other. Both companies are now asking the court to stay their cases until March 15, when they expect the settlement to be finalized.
