There is Microsoft and the Communications Workers of America (CWA). fake labor neutrality agreement for all ZeniMax employees. The CWA said the contract is similar to Activision Blizzard’s 2022 contract covering its workforce, which took effect in April of this year.
“Thousands of our ZeniMax employees have a free and fair way to organize together for better working conditions,” said Page Branson, Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Tester, in a CWA press release.
Xbox maker in 2022 signed a formal agreement with the CWA To respect the right of Activision Blizzard employees to organize. Microsoft’s acquisition, which will take effect 60 days after it closes, was not formalized until earlier this year. It also extends Microsoft’s recognition in early 2023 ZeniMax QA employees’ right to unionizeand now includes every eligible employee at ZeniMax.
The CWA says the new contract means Microsoft will take a neutral stance when workers express interest in joining a union. Employees can communicate with their peers and union representatives about membership “in a manner that promotes information sharing and prevents business disruption.”
According to the CWA, employees will have access to a decision-making process that respects their privacy if they so choose. It also includes a dispute resolution and arbitration process for any disagreements between the union and Microsoft.
“When we organized our union under a similar legal agreement, the process was clear and management did not try to influence anyone’s decision and the company did not try to interfere in the voting process,” Branson wrote. “There is strength in numbers and as our numbers grow at ZeniMax, Microsoft and the video game industry, we will earn the respect we deserve and raise the standards of working conditions for everyone in the video game industry. When we benefit, the consumer and the company will ultimately benefit along with us, helping to keep this industry stable for current and future workers.”
