Disney is laying off around 175 Pixar workers as it pulls back on original streaming shows


It loses about 175 employees between a drive to cut costs. Back in January, it was reported that layoffs were planned for the digital animation pioneer, with the studio reducing its workforce by nearly 14 percent.

according to The cuts are part of moves to reduce development of original shows and movies the company is trying to make its streaming division more profitable. Thus, Pixar is expected to once again focus entirely on making theatrical feature films.

Once an extremely reliable hit factory, Pixar has had a rough patch over the past few years. Disney said it was a mistake Waiting for Pixar movies to finally come to Disney+ (here (Covid-19 has caused the theater to close). It may have played a role in the Toy Story spin-off did not meet box office expectations.
