Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup car brings extreme EV performance to the track

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is one of the most extreme EVs you can buy right now. With 600 horsepower delivered to all four wheels, plus multiple drive modes that help you do everything from lap racing to drifting, it’s a wild ride indeed.

But it’s about to get even wilder. Meet the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup car. It’s a lightweight, caged, and big-winged version of the Hyundai rocket ship, tuned to such an extreme level that it’s not even road legal. Yes, it’s meant for racing, and Hyundai is introducing a focused racing series for the 5 N later this year.

Before that, I went to Korea to ride off-road. The Inje Speedium is a challenging circuit with lots of elevation changes and despite some adverse weather conditions, the Ioniq 5 N eN1 handled itself expertly. And at $100,000, it’s a surprisingly good value for a track-ready machine. Watch the video above for the full story.
