Joni Mitchell joins Neil Young and returns to Spotify


Iconic singer Joni Mitchell after more than two years, he left the platform in protest of its hosting of misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines, which was commonly spread by. . This comes just one week after a fellow protester .

Mitchell has not commented on the return of his music to Spotify. Back in 2022, Mitchell wrote in a statement that “irresponsible people are spreading lies that cost lives. “I stand with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue of a COVID vaccine” .

Young returned to Spotify because of Joe Rogan’s podcast , as it now appears on YouTube, Apple Podcasts and Amazon Music. “My decision is due to Apple and Amazon music services starting to offer the same misinformation podcast features that I oppose on Spotify,” he wrote in a blog post that may have been deleted after it was published. The singer also noted that if he pulled his music from each of the above platforms, his fans would have nowhere to go.

Aside from the obvious reasons, Young and Mitchell had a personal stake in the fight against medical misinformation. Both musicians were victims of poliomyelitis thanks to vaccines.

Joni Mitchell has been experiencing a career boom over the past few years. He began playing live again in 2022 after an aneurysm left him unable to perform in 2015. The singer even performed at this year’s Grammys. As for Rogan, he recently signed a new $250 million deal with Spotify to pursue his various podcast ventures.
