The main drawbacks are the lack of automatic ear detection and average microphone quality for phone calls.

The Steam Deck OLED it’s still a better choice for most people looking for a portable gaming PC, but the ROG Ally is physically smaller and can perform better with graphically demanding titles. Its 7-inch display also has a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, so it makes games look consistently smooth on the move. And since it runs on Windows, it works with any PC game client out of the box.

That said, it’s primarily a device for enthusiasts. Navigating Windows on a handheld device is often difficult, and you often have to tinker with settings to keep your games running optimally. The ROG Ally’s battery life is also poor, typically lasting around two hours, if not less. That said, if you want a handheld to play big-budget games from stores outside of Steam, the Ally does more good than bad.
