Lucas Pope’s Mars After Midnight hits the Playdate console on March 12


Panic only had one game show reveals many upcoming exclusives. The company also announced the March 12 release date for the much-awaited film Mars after midnight, This is probably the console’s first marquee title.

However, Lucas Pope’s latest creation wasn’t the only news to come out of today’s launch. Panic also revealed 16 games scheduled to hit the platform “in 2024 and beyond.” These include a cool looking rogue/golf hybrid Far Fairway, pixel-art brawler Midnight Raider a sci-fi RPG called for home, among 13 others.

The company’s CEO, Cabel Sasser, also took the time to reiterate that the Playdate console is without a waiting period. It’s been a long time coming, and Panic says it’s finally “caught” more than 70,000 pre-orders.

The Playdate online store, called Catalog, is approaching its one-year anniversary. To celebrate, Panic is having its first ever in-store sale from March 7th to March 14th. so console owners will likely have a field day here.

For the uninitiated, Playdate is one It’s cute and bright yellow, with a hand-operated crank used as an additional control mechanism in many games. Every $200 console comes with 24 free titles, two unlocked every week for 12 weeks.
