Reuters reports. Musk and the SEC now have a week to arrange a time and place for him to appear or face a ruling, according to an order filed in a California court late Saturday night. The order was issued after Musk failed to appear to testify in September and thereafter refused to attend the rescheduled interview, urged the SEC to sue. U.S. Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler sided with the SEC after Musk tried to challenge the subpoena, which he claimed was harassment and seeking irrelevant information because he had already been interviewed twice. However, the SEC said it has obtained new documents related to the investigation and has additional questions for owner X. Musk also argued that the subpoena exceeded the SEC’s authority because it was issued by a staff member appointed by the SEC’s Executive Director. Beeler overturned those arguments, ruling that the subpoena was valid.
