Porsche’s all-electric Macan SUV boasts a 381-mile range and up to 621hp


Porsche officially introduced the new all-electric Macan SUV, after giving us a teased a bit last year. Along with the announcement, the company has dropped specifications, pricing information, and an estimated release date.

It looks like a direct competitor to cars like Jaguar’s I-Pace and Polestar 4. To that end, it’s a well-equipped car. First of all, the battery is in place and allows for a range of 381 miles before running out of power. It’s got some juice from Miami to Jacksonville on one charge. It will be presented in two variants: Macan 4 with 397 hp and Macan Turbo with 621 hp. The company promised 600 horsepower, and it looks like it’s equipped with at least a Turbo. It should be noted that there is variety dwarfing the popular Porsche Taycan EValthough this model is designed for speed, not distance.

The interior of the EV Macan features three digital displays as part of a robust infotainment system. There’s a standard 12.6-inch curved instrument panel and an 11-inch infotainment touchscreen. The car also offers another 11-inch touchscreen for passengers to stream content and adjust controls. The entire platform is equipped with Porsche’s special voice assistant built on the Android Automotive operating system. There’s even a dedicated app store, appropriately named the Porsche App Center.

You’ll also notice the Macan’s streamlined exterior, which looks quite sleek compared to previous iterations. The rear even has a retractable spoiler that automatically adjusts its placement to increase downforce. The front engine was developed by Bosch, but the rear engine was built in-house at Porsche’s production center in Zuffenhausen, Germany.

There’s also a new electronically controlled traction control system that Porsche says is up to five times faster than the existing gas-powered Macan’s four-wheel drive system. The car also includes Porsche’s Torque Vectoring Plus system for improved steering behavior.

No longer called the E-Macan, the Porsche Macan EV will be sold alongside a gas-powered version until next year, when the company will sunset the OG model. This is part of the company’s pledge to shift 80 percent of its global sales to electric vehicles by 2030.

Porsche should release the car by the end of the year, although it was originally supposed to be revealed in 2023, so we’ll see. The EV Macan SUV will cost $88,600 for the standard model and $120,000 for the Turbo. according to Car.
