It’s almost time the first Samsung Unpacked event of the year. It’s almost guaranteed that we’ll get the first official details about the Galaxy S24 smartphones, which will feature generative AI on the device. What to expect at Samsung Unpacked
Samsung isn’t exactly being subtle about what’s on board for Unpacked. The company is touting something called Galaxy AI for mobile devices in a few promo videos:
Yes, it’s pretty safe to say that AI will be the focal point of the showcase. Samsung announced it in November Gaussian generative AI models. These can handle tasks such as translation, coding assistance, and converting text to images. The S24 line is also expected to continue Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsetcapable of handling multiple generative AI queries on the device. So at least some GAI features won’t need to go through the cloud, meaning they should be processed faster.
As for the new smartphones, there probably won’t be much change on the hardware front apart from technical glitches. However, the S24 Ultra is slated to feature a full flat display along with a titanium body. leaky spec sheet. We’re not sure if we’ll see any hardware other than smartphones at the event, though some rumors suggest a Galaxy Fit 3 fitness tracker and/or Galaxy Book Pro notebooks. Since this is Samsung, there’s always a small chance we’ll see new tablets, smartwatches, and headphones as well.
