Amazon just introduced a new line of Fire TVsOn the eve of Thanksgiving and more importantly, Black Friday. The Fire TV Omni Mini-LED series is advertised as “the most powerful and innovative TV ever built by Amazon.” Let’s take a look at some of the features.
All of these TVs include QLED Mini-LED panels that deliver up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness and up to 1,344 dimming zones. They offer support for Dolby Vision IQ and HDR10+ Adaptive, which should result in “more vibrant colors, deeper blacks and richer contrast.”
Amazon says the sets include AI-powered Smart Picture technology that automatically enhances picture quality to optimize scenes “in real time.” The TV’s light and color sensor takes into account the living space and adjusts the brightness and color temperature accordingly.
They also allow access Amazon’s Fire TV Ambient Experiencewhich turns televisions into screens for art. It’s kind of like the well-known Samsung Frame series only, well, without the whole frame part. This app doesn’t just display static artwork, as it can also handle custom animations and various widgets.
This is the first Amazon built TV with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification for my fine gamers. This software package combines variable refresh rate, automatic low latency mode and new 144Hz refresh rate in game mode. It also offers support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 for some nice future-proofing. All of them are equipped with two speakers, two subwoofers and enable Dolby Atmos audio output.
These are Amazon TVs, of course they play nice with Alexa. The company says that users can “discover shows and movies, control playback, and control the Fire TV Ambient Experience silently” through voice control.
Fire TV Omni Mini-LED boxes currently available. Prices range from $820 to $2,100, with size options ranging from 55 inches to 85 inches.
These aren’t the only entertainment products Amazon is releasing today. The company too released a new line of soundbars and an update for the pre-existing Fire TV 4 series.
