A new artificial intelligence feature is coming to Microsoft’s Notepad called Rewrite. Microsoft says it’s giving Windows Insiders a preview of Retype, which will let AI rewrite sentences, change pitch, and change the length of text in Notepad.
Windows Insiders can access Retype by highlighting text in the Notepad window and right-clicking in the menu, or by pressing the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+I. A dialog box will open, showing suggested rewrites of the AI-highlighted text and, above the Change button, menus of adjustable features including Longer, Tone, and Format. If you prefer to type with just your fingers and your brain, you can turn off the AI feature in the app settings menu. .
Even Microsoft’s Paint is getting its own AI features called Generative Fill and Generative Erase. The new ‘fill’ feature can add and edit visual features to your images and drawings by drawing a selection box and using a text box to describe the image you want to add to the selected area. According to the Windows blog, the “erase” feature for Paint can erase images in photos or drawings by selecting them with a “generative eraser brush” when using the eraser tool.
So it took more than four decades to get but it only took a few months to get an AI that can paint and rewrite for us?
