Wireless food probes are useful on the grillallowing you to maneuver as needed without the maze of cables for navigation. case Meater’s latest productsthese devices allow you to monitor both food and ambient grill temperatures simultaneously. There’s no doubting their usefulness, but you often need more than one to get the job done. Sometimes you need to cook steaks at different temperatures or, for example, precisely monitor the breast and thigh of your Thanksgiving turkey. Meater now offers a four-probe option Pro XLhowever, it is $349.95 and may be too expensive for some backyard cooks.

today, A company owned by Traeger made his debut Meater Pro Duoa dual-probe model that replaces Bluetooth with Wi-Fi to extend wireless range. The adapter connects to your home network and then to the Meater Cloud, which will allow you to monitor your food and grill temps from anywhere on your phone. This dock also has its own battery (charged using USB-C), so you don’t have to worry about changing batteries. As before, Meater says fully charged probes can last up to 24 hours, which should be enough for the longest meat cooks. If you find yourself in a pinch, a five-minute charge will give you two hours of use.

Meater once again opted for stainless steel probes, and both have six temperature sensors (five internal, one ambient). These components allow the probes to withstand heating temperatures of up to 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The company says the internal sensors work up to 221 degrees Fahrenheit and are accurate to within half a degree. Like previous Meater models, the probes are waterproof, meaning you can use them for deep frying and sous vide. But more importantly, it means they are dishwasher safe.

Pro Duo probes send meal data to Meater’s app, which lets you monitor progress on your phone. The software offers a range of cooking profiles based on the dishes you prepare, and a guided cooking system can guide you through every step of the process. An estimation algorithm is also at work here, providing an estimate of when your meals will be ready (including rest time).

The Meater Pro Duo is now available for pre-order from the company’s website for $199.95. Deliveries start from November 15.
