PlayStation 5 faceplates aren’t compatible with the PS5 Pro

There’s some bad news for those looking to upgrade to the upcoming PS5 Pro. The console is not compatible with pre-existing PlayStation 5 skins, as reported IGN and approved by Sony.

Given that the PS5 Pro is slightly thinner than the original PS5, this isn’t entirely unexpected. Reddit user Named Zorro tried it some cobalt blue plates on the PS5 Pro and concluded that the top plates do not fit because “although they are physically the same size, the teeth that connect to the system [in] slightly different places. So you can’t connect the top.”

Sony confirmed the news IGN that “PS5 console covers are not compatible with PS5 Pro.” It’s not all bad news, however. The company is currently working on skins specifically for the expensive new console. Most likely, third-party accessory manufacturers will come to the rescue sooner.

In the meantime, you’ll just have to make do with the plain-looking PS5 Pro. Console It costs $700so you won’t even have money for any accessories right after purchase. The PS5 Pro will be released on November 7.
