Panic dropped some major news in the fall Playdate Update: Season Two is happening, and we’ll see it next year. But during today’s live stream, Panic’s Video & Podcast host Christa Mrgan confirmed that Season Two is in the works and that it will “happen next year.” consolation for Killing the Stereo Dockmaybe?
There are a lot of details we don’t yet know about Season Two, like how much it will cost (Season One was bundled with the purchase of Play History), but Engadget has reached out to Panic for comment and will update this post. if we hear back. The first season brought two games a week for 12 weeks, making a total of 24 games. According to Mrgan, Season Two includes “about a dozen games” so far. Apparently there’s another “really nice surprise” that we’re not allowed to know the details of yet, and my interest is definitely piqued.
In addition to the Season Two announcement, the fall update also highlighted some upcoming Catalog games in the coming weeks and into 2025: Owl’s huga metroidvania about an owl afraid to fly; Cometa puzzle-adventure game about a girl who is forced to face her fear of the dark after her brother goes missing; Office Chair Curlingit’s exactly what it sounds like, and at best it seems completely absurd; Bwirdsa favorite word puzzle game; called pinball game Devils on the moon From Tetris-like makers, Frog; and a top-down boat racing game, Rower Rally.
There’s also a huge Catalog sale going on until November 14th. Some of them our favorite Playdate games is heavily discounted, so if you’ve been waiting for the right moment to collect all the titles on your “to play” list, now would be the time.
