The trackers are oblong in shape and have a metal ring at one end. This is said to make it easier to attach the tracker to things like a set of buttons, while providing improved durability over the first-generation SmartTag. Apple AirTag owners, however, may need to purchase a case to attach the tracker to their valuables. There’s a silicone case you can buy for the SmartTag2 for added protection, although the tracker already has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance.
Samsung says the SmartTag2 can last up to 500 days in normal mode, or up to 700 days in Power Save mode on a CR2032 watch battery.
