New Pixel updates include AI-powered theft protection


Google is rolling out a series of updates Pixel watchessmartphones and tablets. In many cases, their predecessors also get new features like Night Sight for Instagram — available on all Pixel 6 or newer devices except the A series. The tool allows you to take photos directly on Instagram without worrying about them coming out dark. If you’re someone who likes to take pictures at concerts or parties without worrying about the bright light going off, this could be ideal. Now available globally, anti-theft is one of the most extensive updates and actually applies to all Android 10 or newer devices (Android 15 is out today) – not just the Pixel. Later this year, Google will release Identity Verification, which will require biometric authentication to access operations such as changing PINs and removing anti-theft protection. The new feature includes tools like AI-powered Theft Detection Lock, which uses on-device machine learning to detect attempts to steal your device and automatically locks it if it does. The Gemini extension for screenshots is a tool that allows you to “Hey Google” Find your way to the exact picture you’re looking for. For example, you can say: “Hey Google, use screenshots to find the red shirt I saved.” Plus, you can now use the waterproof case to take enhanced photos and videos under the sea.
