This is our recommendation for a smart speaker under $100.

  • Amazon Echo Spot (2nd generation) $45 ($35 off): The half softball spot with the small screen has been gone for a while, but returned with a new look and a half-moon display that can display the time, weather and song being played.

  • Amazon Echo Pop $18 ($22 off): The smallest Echo device is best suited for a small space where Alexa’s help would be useful. It’s not built to play high-fidelity music, but it will sing while you’re getting ready or eating dinner.

It’s not just you. Dialogue in television shows is increasing it’s harder to silence. A sound bar has made a world of difference in my home. Of course, these long speakers and sets also make the movies more impressive. Engadget’s Billy Steele tested a bunch, put his favorites on ours soundbar guide and the good news for anyone willing to turn off the subtitles is that Prime Day deals apply to several winning models.

  • Sonos Beam $399 ($100 off): The Sonos Beam is our favorite midrange. It has solid sound quality, Dolby Atmos support and is easy to install. Note that it only has one HDMI port, so you won’t be able to connect the console directly to the speaker.

  • Sonos Ray $169 ($110 off): This is the lowest price we’ve ever seen for this is recommended soundbar, over $100 off. We like the Sonos Ray because it’s an affordable option that produces great sound in a compact bar with easy setup.
