What does it look like? Disney From October 17, standalone plans of its video streaming services will become more expensive.
The ad-supported Disney+ Basic plan will go from $8 to $10 per month, and the ad-free Disney+ Premium plan will go from $14 per month or $140 per year to $16 per month or $160 per year. The advertising plan for Hulu ranges from $8 per month or $80 per year to $10 per month or $100 per year, and the ad-free plan ranges from $18 per month to $20 per month. ESPN+ is also getting pricing updates, with monthly costs going from $11 a month or $110 a year to $12 a month or $120 a year.
Remember, this service was just ad-free, when it launched less than five years ago.
Only one combination plan is changed. The Disney Bundle Duo Basic, which includes ad-supported access to both Disney+ and Hulu, is increasing from $10 per month to $11 per month. Hulu + Live TV plans also cost a hike: $83 a month for ad support and $96 a month for ad-free.
Increased subscription costs were included in the previous feature announcement earlier this year. Disney+ will begin offering continuous playlists to viewers starting September 4. There will be two playlists to start: a channel for ABC News Live and one with videos for preschoolers. Four more playlists will debut in the fall: Seasonal Content, Epic Stories (featuring franchises like Marvel and Star Wars), Throwbacks (“nostalgic pop culture content”) and Real Life (biopics and documentaries).
