New Zelda footage features cute horseback riding and uh, smoothie shops

Nintendo just fell for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. This is a top-down switch input Instead of a link. The six-minute video focuses on “traversing Hyrule,” so there’s a lot of interesting stuff about the kingdom and, more importantly, the world map.

It looks like a completely new map. Many people assumed that this game would raise the map The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, but it doesn’t seem like it. But some signs are the same. For example, the castle is in the center and the mountains are at the top.

Otherwise, this game includes all the different cultures and cities from the 3D Zelda games. You can meet Gorons, Zora, and even enter an all-female Gerudo settlement. It is also the first top-down Zelda game to feature horse traversal. There are several horses in the trailer, but none quite resemble the world-famous Epona. It is possible that Princess Zelda has a white stallion Breath of the Wild even though he makes a living. Anyway, they’re all pretty cute.

The trailer also shows off some delicious stuff, and we all love it when Nintendo gets weird. Scattered across Hyrule are smoothie shops, candy-obsessed Deku Scrubs, and more.

Finally, there’s a new selectable ability for Zelda called Bind. It makes objects and creatures in the game world follow you, presumably for puzzle-solving purposes.

This is all good news. It doesn’t look like an “end of console life” game. It looks cute and inventive. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom It comes out on September 26.
