YouTube seeks to make it easier for creators to remove their songs from their videos and resolve copyright claims. The new Creator Insider video features a website announced it has released an improved “remove song” tool with the ability to remove music from video segments without removing other audio such as conversations.
When creators get a copyright claim for music, YouTube gives them the option to cut the affected segment or replace the song with an approved song in their audio library. The creators cannot monetize the video until the lawsuit is resolved. The website has been testing a “delete song” tool for a while, but in the video, the company says it’s not as accurate as it would like. To solve this problem, he redesigned the tool so that it now uses an AI-powered algorithm to accurately detect and remove copyrighted music from videos.
Still, YouTube acknowledges that the tool may not always work. If it is particularly difficult to remove a song due to sound quality or the presence of other sounds while the song is being played, creators may need to look to other options. In addition to cutting out the offending segment or replacing its song, creators will also be able to mute that part of the video with the new delete tool.
The website’s improved song removal tool will be available in YouTube Studio in the coming weeks.
