With the US banning its hyper-popular drones more likely to beDJI is diversifying into products that won’t be affected CCP Fighting Drones Actwhom spare batteries. Now the company is entering the e-bike arena with the Avinox Drive System, which will challenge the likes of Bosch, Bafang, Shimano and SRAM.
The Avinox system promises a relatively light weight of 2.52 kg (5.6 lb) (5.39 kg including batteries), while offering 105 Nm (850 W) of peak torque/power and 600 Wh or 800 Wh battery options does. It uses GaN 3x fast charging technology, so the 800Wh battery can be charged from 0 to 75 percent in 1.5 hours. According to DJI, the planetary gear set and polymer gears allow for a balance of size, weight and power output along with a quiet ride.
The system offers four standard driving assistance modes, Auto, Eco Trail and Turbo, along with a Boost mode for extra power when needed. Auto mode uses what DJI calls “multi-sensor fusion” to continuously adjust assistance based on riding resistance.
The Avinox includes a two-inch OLED full-color touchscreen to control auxiliary modes and display relevant information. It allows riders to connect their smartphone to access features such as security, data recording, sharing and real-time bike status/location. You can also use the app to access and customize assistance levels and settings.
Finally, the company writes that it comes with dual Wireless Controllers with Bluetooth connectivity for “messy steering setup.” The Avinox system appears to be out of specification some popular systems Thanks to lower weight, extra torque and higher capacity batteries from Bosch, Shimano, Brose and others.
It will first appear with a new bike brand, Amflow, which is introducing a new PL model weighing 19.2 kg (42 lb) – the low-end for electric mountain bikes (eMTB). The Amflow PL also includes a four-bar chainstay structure and “absolute geometry,” a FOX co-tuned rear shock and a SRAM rear derailleur.
No word yet on pricing for DJI’s Avinox Drive System or Amflow mountain bike, but the latter is expected to be released in Q4 2024 “through authorized dealers in Germany, the UK and Australia, among others,” – said the company.
