$449 after years of rumors about Sonos getting into headphones Sonos Ace is here. They are well designed and have impressive sound quality. According to Engadget’s Billy Steele, integrating headphones with a family of speakers isn’t what many would expect, but the feature works well. They are also comfortable to wear.
One thing that could have made an otherwise perfect debut is limited support – with its own speakers. Yes, streaming TV sound from Sonos speakers to the Ace only works with the Sonos Arc soundbar for now. Sonos says support for the Beam and Ray generations is on the way, but there’s no firm timeline.
If you’ve used or read reviews of Sonos speakers, you’re probably familiar with Trueplay, which maps the acoustics of a room with microphones to fine-tune the volume. There’s a version of the Ace called True Cinema that virtualizes the surround sound for the room you’re in, making it look like you’re not even wearing the Ace. But… it wasn’t ready either.

I’m tired of rings.
Samsung has filed a lawsuit against Oura to settle intellectual property disputes as the launch of the Galaxy Ring approaches. The suit says Oura has used its patent portfolio to sue smaller wearable technology rivals in the past and has hinted it may do the same against the larger Samsung. Samsung says the Galaxy Ring doesn’t infringe on Oura’s patents — of course.
