Sony’s Overwatch-esque Concord is coming to PS5 and PC on August 23

save for Fate 2, a long-running first-person shooter from a PlayStation studio. So there is quite a bit of interest in Firewalk Studios. Concord since it was announced a year ago.

We learned more about the sci-fi game during our time Sony’s State of Play showcaseincluding the release date and first look at the game. It’s coming to PS5 and PC on August 23, and will be in beta in July. (Look up: you will A PlayStation Network account is required to play on PC.)

Firewalk says it focuses on making sure Concord it has tight action, accurate shooting and a range of abilities – as you would expect from a studio led by the former Fate developers. Considering it’s a five-and-a-half hero shooter, there are a lot of similarities Overwatch 2 also (Microsoft owns this game now, for what it’s worth).

As you can imagine, there are several roles to choose from, with each of the first 16 characters nicknamed Freegunners having unique abilities. We aimed to do the Firewalk Concord accessible to a wide group of players, regardless of preferred play style or skill level. There should be at least one or two Free Gunners whose abilities you can pick up relatively quickly.

You can throw exploding blades, place speed-boosting spores, throw a healing pad, cast a wall of fire, or wall off an entire lane. Some of these abilities will remain on the map between rounds and repawns, while others are intended for more spontaneous use.

There will be six different game modes at launch. Firewalk plans to add more modes, Freegunners, maps and cinematic vignettes as free post-launch updates.

There is a lot of competition in this genre and in the live service market in general. But Sony already has a hit shooter this year Helldivers 2. Concord it has made a solid impression so far, so it has a chance to be successful.
