A $3 iOS app now makes higher-quality recordings location videos More so than Apple’s native camera app. Available on the App Store, Spatialify allows iPhone 15 Pro owners to record 3D videos Apple Vision Pro either 1080p at 60fps or 4K at 30fps – with HDR. Spatialify launched earlier this year as a tool to convert Apple’s spatial videos (HEVC format) for playback on non-Apple VR headsets. Meta Quest 3. But then with Meta adding native HEVC conversion headphones ( the best seller in the market), Spatialify’s superior recording could give the third-party app a new lease on life.
Engadget editor-in-chief Devindra Hardawar confirmed that Spatialify produces files at 4K / 30 fps when set appropriately. He also confirmed that Spatialify’s videos look sharper on Vision Pro than videos shot in Apple’s camera app. HDR also makes the lighting of videos more realistic. Not bad for three bucks.
It’s a bit surprising that Apple kept its native camera app from using the full hardware capabilities of the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, but it’s not unheard of. Based on this history, I wouldn’t be shocked if Apple added similar advanced location recording to its camera soon, especially now that we know its current hardware has no issues with it.
