That is Border areas the movie is coming out and now ours first teaser trailer. These images give us a look at all of the main characters, most of which originate from the game, and the tone that director Eli Roth was going for.
There is definitely Guardians of the Galaxy vibe runs along. Maybe it’s the heavy use of a famous Electric Light Orchestra song, or maybe it’s a ragtag band of adventurers, or a mix of action and humor. Anyway, director Eli Roth looks like he’s channeling James Gunn at his best. All things considered, it seems so the right tone for Border areas movie. Color us cautiously optimistic.
Now on to the cast and characters that fans of the franchise know and love. Cate Blanchett plays the famously short-tempered Lilith, and the actress certainly looks the part. Just look at that hair and outfit. The film follows Blanchett as she searches for a mysterious warehouse rumored to be filled to the brim with sweet, sweet booty. It’s like a game!
Jamie Lee Curtis, scientist Dr. who is an NPC in all three Borderlands games. Plays the role of Tannis. Comedian Kevin Hart plays the mercenary Roland, a playable soldier in many games. Jack Black, in turn, follows Bowser too Super Mario Bros. movie, the robot plays the role of Claptrap. The benevolent robot is considered the mascot for the franchise and often acts as comic relief. Black suits the role very well. The cast is rounded out by Ariana Greenblatt as scrappy Tiny Tina, star of the spinoff game. Little Tina’s Wonderlandand Florian Muntianu as his enforcer, Krieg.
Of course, it remains to be seen if Roth can pull off this kind of big-budget adventure spectacle. Director’s mainly known for horror films. One thing is for sure, but the trailer actually looks and feels Border areas. The large and bright color palette is reminiscent of the cel-shaded aesthetic in games. The film will be released in theaters on August 9.
