The Google Nest wired indoor camera it’s $70 via Amazon as part of an early Black Friday deal. The camera is normally $100, so that’s a 30 percent savings. That’s near a record low, which is never a bad thing. The sale includes three colors including white, beige and light blue.
The second-generation wired device is designed for indoor use, so it’s called, and is capable of 1080p HDR video. It’s motion sensitive and uses a bit of AI trickery to distinguish between people, animals and vehicles. The camera also includes night vision, which comes in handy during Wi-Fi outages, and one-hour event recording on the device itself.
There is a two-way audio function, as the camera has both a microphone and a speaker. People can launch the associated Google Home app to start a conversation. The app also lets you call emergency services if a conversation doesn’t go as planned, although this requires a Nest Aware subscription.
This brings us to a rather important caveat, even though it appears with most modern security cameras. Many things are locked behind the aforementioned Nest Aware paywall, it costs $8 per month or $80 annually. This plan gives buyers 60 days of video history and live streaming on smart displays and even smart TVs. Subscribers will even receive alerts when familiar faces are recognized by the camera.
