Noble Audio just announced, pending availability of the most advanced headphones. The FoKus Rex5 headphones manage to pack a lot of technology into a small package, with a $450 price tag to prove it.
Initially, Noble installed five drivers in each earpiece. This is probably the first time it’s been done, as the idea of cramming multiple drivers into a small headphone is a relatively new concept. Noble own FoKus Prestige headphones includes three drives, but certainly not five.
The FoKus Rex5 headphones include a dynamic driver, a planar driver and three balanced armature drivers to extend the frequency range. The company says this special combination creates an “impressive soundstage that effortlessly delivers rich, full bass, detailed mids and crystal-clear highs across an extended frequency range from 20Hz to 40kHz.”
For the uninitiated, planar drivers provide a more accurate signal through the high and mid ranges. Dynamic drivers have the power to move a lot of air, resulting in improved bass response. The company’s recently released FoKus Apollo headphones but also combine these two types of drivers.
These headphones integrate with custom software and Audiodo’s customization software. It allows people to create a custom EQ setting based on their hearing, and these settings are actually loaded into the headphones. Of course, the Rex5 buds offer active noise cancellation and multiple transparency modes.
As for connectivity, the Rex5 headphones use Bluetooth 5.4 with Multipoint. They are also equipped with both aptX Adaptive and LDAC hi-res codecs in addition to AAC and SBC. The company says customers should get five hours of use per charge with ANC on and seven hours with it off. The headphones come with a charging case that can power an additional 40 hours of use with a quick charge feature. The box is also green to match the buds.
Noble Audio’s FoKus Rex5 headphones are available for pre-order now, with shipments starting November 29. As previously mentioned, they cost $450, which is $200 more than the price. Apple’s top-of-the-line AirPods Pro 2.
