: The latest MacBook Air is our pick . It ticks almost all the boxes for non-macOS users, from its premium design and comfortable keyboard to its long battery life and capable performance for everyday use. we gave a in our view. Recently said Apple will release an updated notebook early next year, but that’s a new low for Apple’s current base model, which has an M3 chip, 16GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. If you want more memory, It fell to an all-time low of $1,049. Also at .

: The 15-inch MacBook Air is virtually identical to the 13-inch version in terms of features and performance, but with a larger display and better speakers. However, it is about 0.6 pounds heavier. It’s the best price yet for the base model with an M3 chip, 16GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD, but storage is also available at a new low price of $1,234. Also at .
-
: If you’re on a tighter budget, the latest generation MacBook Air is the one for you we love the new M3 model at a lower price. The main sacrifices are slightly less chips, the base model lacks storage and the ability to connect two external monitors. That ties the lowest price we’ve seen for an entry-level variant that packs an M2 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Also at .

: The recently updated MacBook Pro is more of a laptop than most people need, but it remains a powerhouse for coders, media editors, and those with more demanding needs. we gave a in our study earlier this month. Just be aware that there’s no USB-A port, and as with all Apple laptops, there’s no way to upgrade the device after purchase. That’s the biggest discount for a configuration with Apple’s M4 Pro chip, 24GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. A $250 off and down to $1,749. Also at .
-
: The 16-inch version of the MacBook Pro adds a larger screen and a few extra hours of battery life to the same great performance, quality and mini-LED display of its smaller counterpart. The downside is that it’s heavier at 4.7 pounds. This is the lowest figure for the configuration with the M4 Pro chip, 24 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Also at .

: We gave away the latest Surface Laptop earlier this year, and we currently recommend it as an excellent basic ultraportable in our laptop buying guide. The caveat is that it runs on an ARM processor, works well, but may not work with every application or peripheral you use. If you can live with that, the bright 120Hz display, premium aluminum design and long battery life are impressive. With a Snapdragon X Plus chip, 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, this configuration is technically priced at $800. but with in-store pickup. Otherwise, this is the best price we’ve seen. If you prefer a larger screen, a It drops to $1,100 with 256GB of storage. Also at .

: The HP Pavilion Aero laptop is a budget pick in our buying guide. It looks a little cheap and the webcam is weak, but it’s thin and light, has a decent selection of ports and the IPS screen is solid for the money. With a Ryzen 5 8640 chip, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD, this configuration should be fast enough for typical web browsing, word processing, and light photo editing. This closes the best price we can find for the 2024 model since its launch.
-
: The Flex 5i Chromebook Plus tops our guide . We like that its IPS touchscreen has a 16:10 aspect ratio, as it makes the device more suitable for word processing and reading web pages. It works perfectly for the basic tasks you need to do with Chrome OS, and both its keyboard and trackpad are reliable. Its battery life is average, and at 3.6 pounds, it’s fairly heavy for a 14-inch notebook. This discount is $20 more than the lowest price we’ve seen so far, and it’s been live for a week now, but it’s still well below the typical street price of this configuration. It includes an Intel Core i3-1315U chip, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of eMMC storage.

ASUS TUF Gaming A16 Advantage Edition (2023) gaming laptop for $700 ($400 off) at Best Buy: Despite being a 2023 model, this configuration of the A16 should do the trick for value buyers. It comes with a 16-inch 165Hz 1920 x 1200 display, an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS processor, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and an AMD Radeon RX 7700S GPU. You’ll still have to deal with the usual compromises of a cheaper gaming laptop – it can get hot under load, it’s bulky, the keyboard isn’t great, and the screen is a bit dim. But it’s powerful enough to handle newer games at 1080p, the chassis is generally solid, and the battery can reach double-digit hours when you’re not gaming. That discount is $20 higher than the configuration’s lowest price, but otherwise closes the best price we’ve seen.
-
: While not the top pick in any of our guides, this configuration of the ROG Strix G16 should be a solid value for those looking for an all-around 16-inch gaming laptop. It includes an Intel Core i9-14900X chip, 16 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, which is enough to handle many games at high settings without much difficulty. The overall build doesn’t look cheap, and the 2560 x 1600 240Hz display is both sharp and snappy. RAM and storage are user upgradeable, though battery life and a 720p webcam aren’t ideal. This deal matches its all-time low price. With a 1080p panel, a Core i7-13650HX chip, and an RTX 4060 GPU, it’s on sale for under $1,100, but you’ll have to turn down gaming settings more often to get decent frame rates with it.

Alienware M18 R2 Gaming Laptop for $2,200 at Amazon ($500 off): The M18 R2 is a repeat of our top 18-inch pick gaming laptop buying guide. It’s definitely a tank, but it’s well put together, and this configuration can hit new games at high settings at 1080p or 1440p. It comes with a 165Hz 2,560 x 1,600 panel, an Intel Core i9-14900HX chip, 32GB of RAM, a 1TB SSD, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 GPU. This deal isn’t cheap, but it’s a new low for this option. A low level model It’s also available for $1,900, although the problem will appear sooner in more demanding games.

: iPad Pro for most people, but its class-leading OLED display, ultra-thin bezel and powerful M4 chip make it a great tablet. This can work as a laptop replacement for certain types of creativity, but you’ll have to live with iPadOS’ persistent shortcomings in multitasking, file management, and other computing tasks. If you’re thinking of making the switch — or just have cash to burn and want a more portable companion to your current laptop — this is the lowest price we’ve seen for the latest 11-inch model.
