Hyundai recalls over 145,000 EVs in the US


Hyundai is recalling about 145,235 electric vehicles in the United States. . The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said the recall is related to a loss of driver power. The safety regulator noted that the charge control units installed in these models are easily damaged, causing the internal battery to overcharge.

The recall includes all models, including certain Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 EVs from 2022 to 2025, in addition to some Genesis GV70 and Genesis G80 luxury EVs. Click here .

Hyundai says its dealers will inspect any affected vehicles free of charge. These dealers will also replace the above mentioned parts and update the software free of charge.

The company’s sub-brand Kia added another 62,000 EVs to the recall mix. Certain Kia EV6 models from 2022 to 2024 are being recalled and have a potentially faulty integrated charge control unit for the same reason. Like Hyundai, Kia dealers will inspect and repair the problem free of charge.
