Apple is changing how MacBook Pro speakers are replaced and it could make repairs cheaper

As has long been the procedure, it will soon be possible to replace the speakers on the latest MacBook Pro models without replacing the entire top case. A memory he saw Apple Stores and Authorized Service Providers were reportedly told this week that the speakers will be available as standalone components for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with M4 chips. The source also told the publication that it will also be an option for repairs on previous MacBook Pro models with Apple silicon.

The change should lead to a cheaper repair. Until now, the process involved replacing the entire top case, including the battery and other parts, which was quite expensive. It has been like this since 2016 new steps to replace the speaker are now available online from Apple Support. It may not necessarily be a simpler repair – the guide shows a more involved process – but not having to replace other parts, such as the battery, to replace the speakers should significantly reduce costs.
