William Shatner’s Captain Kirk returns one last time in an eight-minute short film


William Shatner, who once sparred with Engadget finally reprized his most famous role. Captain Kirk returns to the short film 765874 – combination. This eight-minute story is now live on YouTube and follows the events Star Trek: GenerationsThe last time Shatner wore a Starfleet uniform.

The short film was produced by Paramount and Shatner himself along with a graphics company called OTOY. It technically exists to celebrate its 30th anniversary Generationsbut it also serves as a proper send-off to the first Star Trek captain.

Now it’s time to enter spoiler territory for those who haven’t seen the 30-year-old film. Captain Kirk is dead. He died on an uninhabited planet after trying to stop Malcolm McDowell from unknowingly opening an extra-dimensional timeline in his solar system called the Nexus. You know how to dig. It’s Star Trek!

Anyway, the short follows after Kirk dies on that planet. Is this the afterlife of the Nexus, or perhaps residual effects? We don’t know. There is no dialogue to help us. Instead, an aging Kirk, sometimes played by Sam Witwer, wanders through another world until he finally finds an old friend. It’s surprisingly effective, especially for die-hard Trek fans.

The emotional depth is enhanced by a soundtrack directed by veteran Star Trek composer and MCU director Michael Giacchino. Within five seconds I knew it was him. Music reminded me lostthis was another show shot by Giacchino.

Barring some new life-extension technology, this will likely be the last time we see Shatner’s Kirk. The man is 93 years old. Paul Wesley stepped into Shatner’s space boots to portray a younger version of the captain. . Despite his age, Shatner .
