Apple’s next AirTag is coming in 2025 with privacy improvements

It’s been a few years since Apple first introduced the AirTag, and while the tracker has undoubtedly become a useful everyday tool for many buyers, there are also concerns — and — reports of AirTag prosecution of device abuse surfaced. With all this in mind, Apple is reportedly working on some privacy improvements in the next AirTag. Mark Gurman, in this week’s post, will be more anti-fake newsletter.

The second-generation AirTag, which is expected to be released in the middle of next year, will be designed to make the speaker more difficult to remove, he writes. Apple implemented it features to prevent unwanted trackingincluding audible alerts that let a person know an unknown AirTag is near them, but the speaker is still relatively easy to remove, making it less noticeable. In addition to the privacy tweaks, the new AirTag will also improve the range and onboard wireless chip, according to Gurman. But in terms of appearance, it shouldn’t be too different from the AirTag we’re used to.
