As the competition between Bluesky and Threads heats up, Meta is adding a new feature to Threads that will look familiar to Bluesky users: custom feeds. The Meta-specific service starts to try feature that allows users to pin theme-based feeds to the app’s home screen.
The change will give people additional feeds outside of the algorithmic ‘for you’, which will remain the default view, and their ‘feed below’. Users can add custom feeds by searching for a keyword like “skin care” and then selecting “create new feed” by tapping the “…” menu. These feeds can be further customized by adding specific profiles of people whose posts you want to see in that feed. Users can add up to 128 custom feeds in the app, a Meta spokesperson said, though it’s just a test for now, so not all users can access it yet.
The feature is similar to Bluesky in many ways which the company introduced last year. Although the application has dozens of user-generated algorithmic feeds, it is still possible to create a new one . However, the Meta version of the feature is simpler. It can apply to some About the main algorithmic feed of Threads.
The latest Threads feature comes as Bluesky has had a particularly good month. Although the service is still much smaller than Threads, which has over 275 million users, Bluesky has slightly less. At the time of this writing, users are gaining momentum. Added decentralized service in the week after the election and another million new registrations this week. This is surprising given that Threads is growing by nearly a million users per day From Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram. If Bluesky can sustain this level of growth for too long, Meta may feel more pressure to borrow some ideas from its smaller rival.
